MCP Spring Technical Session, 2008

Date(s): April 12, 2008

The Motor City Spring Tech Session, hosted once again by Ronnie and Bob Carpenter, proved to be as popular as ever. Intermittent sprinkles did little to dampen the festivities as dozens of MCP members gathered to watch and “sidewalk supervise” the rebuilding of the brakes on Robert Klimeck’s recently-acquired 1947 Clipper. Robert still has his magnificent 1925 Packard Six, but as he explains, “sometimes you want to go faster than 38 miles per hour.”

We spent time floating between Bob’s two garages where there was no trouble finding an intriguing car to ogle or an engaging conversation to join in. The ladies gathered in Ronnie’s kitchen and brought out a lunch banquet fit for a king consisting of grilled hot dogs and bratwurst, baked beans, chips, and much more. Several people brought dishes to pass and there were a variety of desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth. If anyone went away hungry, it was their own fault!

The lively conversation continued during and after lunch, and before we knew it, 2:00 pm had come and gone. What a great time we had, and we thank Ronnie and Bob for hosting this popular event each year.
