Motor City Packard’s Picnic at Camp Dearborn

Date(s): July 19, 2008

Our picnic at Camp Dearborn on Saturday, July 19th was special in that it was also the 60th anniversary celebration of Camp Dearborn. The day offered a car show where we were well represented. It also included music, hotdogs, ice cream, prizes, and great fellowship for MCP members. The only problem was that it also included rain.
The MCP’rs who braved the overcast and drizzle in the morning were treated to a steady rain about noon. Those who stuck it out saw partial clearing around 3PM only to drive home in a steady rain around 4:30. We really made a good showing, especially considering the weather. The public really enjoyed our Packards, and the event organizers appreciated us as well.
Packards on display were:
Bo and Joy Broock’s 1947 Custom Super Clipper
Bob and Ronnie Carpenter’s 1941 120 convertible coupe
Mike and Kathy Corrigan’s 1930 745 sport phaeton
Dave and Rita Dolby’s 1947 7-passenger Henney
Keith Hensley’s 1954 Eight convertible
Robert and Marian Klimeck’s 1926 333 sedan
Gil and Sherry Rebar’s 1937 120 convertible coupe
Brady Smith’s 1954 Clipper
Thank you all for joining Gail, my ‘48 Custom, and me. You did MCP proud. Thanks as well to the many other MCP’rs without Packards who joined in the fellowship. Even with rain coming down we still can have a good time.
